ADULT DANCE SCHOOLS – GETTING A RAW DEAL?

Wherever you go, whichever town you live in you'll be able to find a dancing school for children. Not to mention the new ones popping up all the time. But what about dancing schools for adults? There are nowhere near as many and all the ones available seem to cater exclusively for professional dancers, or are 2 - 3 year college courses. So where does an adult beginner wanting to learn to dance start? Well naturally it quite depends on your goals. If you just want to learn a couple of dance moves or do it as a hobby your aims are very much different from a late adult beginner wanting to do it professionally as a living. The college route of doing 2 - 3 years is something that should be looked at by someone looking to do it professionally. But even they have to begin somewhere often learning part-time to begin with in order to audition successfully for a dance college. So if you're a beginning adult looking to learn for fun or with professional aspirations, to begin with you should look for either a part-time dancing school for adults or a dance studio. MAKING MONEY AS A DANCE TEACHER

Becoming a dance teacher is a very appealing career option for many people with an interest in dance. Many dancers follow up their career by teaching their skills to the next generation and in fact there are many dancers who teach to provide a source of additional income. For many dance teachers the sensible option will be to set up some dance classes that can be attended on a pay-as-you-go basis. This can provide a regular income for a dance teacher. The other option is to have students pay monthly or for longer periods of time. If you start up a dance school, you'll probably charge fees per term or semester. Some dance teachers also run short dance courses that last periods of anything from 5 weeks to 10 weeks. The problem a lot of dance teachers have is that there are less people who will want to commit themselves to a dance course straight away. The problem with pay-as-you go classes is that whilst a teacher can get more people into a class, they never know how many will turn up from week to week.On good weeks a very good hourly income of hundreds of pounds for an hour's work can be ... [more..]

HOW HIP HOP DANCE IS BEST LEARNED

I begun to lean Hip Hop just about 3 years ago, and got hooked immediately. I wanted to know so bad How Hip Hop Dance is being done so I started at a dance school and practiced under different teachers five times a week. In half a year I evolve some good skills, the problem was that because of the enormously amount of training I had no time to use my new learned moves and develop my own style. I became a copycat.I will warn you about this, if you want to learn how hip hop dance is being done don't just take class after class all the time. My tips is to practice at least as much on your own or at a club as you do in a dance studio following a teacher. This may seem hard in the start but I permit you, it will give some mad results. Try to challenge yourself by turning on your favorite Hip hop song and freestyle until the end. Play with the dynamics and accent different sounds in the beat. Practicing hip hop this way will make you to a much better dancer in a shorter time.I see two big risks ... [more..]

PLACES YOU CAN LEARN STREET DANCE

When learning to dance in London, there are many choices for a Londoner. Go with traditional styles that have maintained popularity over the course of time such as ballet, tap or jazz? Perhaps a very popular social dance like salsa? Or more recent styles such as hip hop, locking, popping or breakin?Well all the dance styles above are very popular choices. However this article focuses on the most recent of these styles, i.e. street dance. Street dance is a fairly loose term but generally a class described as such in London is likely to teach you how to do routines very similar to what you see in many music videos. The same can also be said for commercial jazz styles. So if you want to learn it or any of its component and associated styles such as hip hop dance, locking and popping where you can go? There are several options. One popular option is a dance studio. Although the style is becoming more and more popular with the release of films such as Step Up 2 and the success of dance acts on shows such as Britain's Got Talent, it may not always be offered at local studios. Sometimes you'll have ... [more..]
