NBC RENEWS HEROES AND TWO OTHER DRAMAS

Other NBC shows have yet to wait in the wings to know if they're going to be renewed for another season, but as for Life, Chuck, and one TV fan favorite, they're all off the hook as NBC recently announced that they're coming back. Life and Chuck will get back into the airwaves with at least 13 more episodes in the fall, alongside the third season of Heroes. The good news doesn't end there as the superpowered series will be returning with more than a whopping 22 episodes, which would make up for the very short season 2. It is still unknown exactly how many episodes will be produced, but one thing's for sure--Heroes will air sometime this fall. "We are thrilled to be bringing back the high-energy dramas Chuck and Life for next season," Co-Chairman of NBC Entertainment Ben Silverman confirmed. "Additionally, we will be saving and re-launching our #1 drama and most successful franchise, Heroes, so that it will run in all original episodes in the fourth quarter." A lot of Heroes fans were disappointed with the second season of the hit series, ... [more..]

NBC RENEWS ‘HEROES’ AND TWO OTHER DRAMAS

NBS delivered some good news. While the return of the other shows remains uncertain up to this point, the network has confirmed that it has already renewed its contracts with the shows Life, Chuck and Heroes. NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios co-chairman Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff announced that all three shows will be re-launched. "We are thrilled to be bringing back the high-energy dramas Chuck and Life for next season," said Silverman. "Additionally, we will be saving and re-launching our #1 drama and most successful franchise, Heroes, so that it will run in all original episodes in the fourth quarter." Graboff also shared his sentiments on the favored shows. “These pickups are a sign of our confidence in these quality series and will allow the respective producers to get a head start on their creative arc for next season," he said. "As a result, they give us a lot to build on as we point to next year's schedule." Life, created by Rand Ravich, is a crime/suspense TV series about a former police officer who was imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. After being freed from the prison, the ... [more..]

CREATING THE CHARACTERS FOR YOUR EVERYDAY DRAMAS

Copyright (c) 2009 Mary LloydDaily emotional life can be painful. The snub. The really mean person. Someone else's problem that you drop everything to solve. We think these dramas are caused by other people. But the truth is we create them ourselves--when we are too wound up in what we THINK should happen to pay attention to what is really going on.I got wise to this recently while trying to figure out that most demanding of challenges—how to be happy with someone of the opposite sex. Having been raised in a very traditional upper Midwest family, I've been very good at figuring out what other people need and making sure I do what I can for them to get it since about age 10. Almost simultaneously, I became good at constructing stories in my head about why I didn't get what I wanted...needed...deserved in the same way. By the time I started dating, both those strategies were entrenched.I've made great progress in getting rid of most of these dumb ideas, but with a guy, I regress to "terminal unidirectional giving mode" by the end of the first date. It's an unworkable approach: ... [more..]

HUMOROUS INTERPRETATIONS FROM DRAMAS

Being original does not necessarily mean trying to erect something from nothing.  Originality can spring from being clever and placing a new twist on a preexisting item.  Taking this concept and applying it to a Humorous Interpretation piece can add the zing which is often missing.  This little twist can be as simple as interpreting a well-known character in a non-traditional way (how often has Watson been delivered as a fat, bumbling fellow until 2009 when Jude Law gave the clever doctor the credit he deserves?) or as extravagant as revamping a story entirely (see the evolution of Batman from television to Burton to Nolan--not comedic, but a good example).  A choice you can make as you select your Humorous Interpretation piece can be to take a common, dramatic story plot, throw it into a chrysalis of humor, and watch the metamorphosis transpire. Advantages: Unique. This Humorous Interpretation treatment is unique because you stand to potentially have the only funny interpretation of ------- around.  There is no competing with other Humorous Interpretations to see who has the better cutting and interp of "insert popular HI here." Most HI's are found through looking into ... [more..]
